Early Childhood Education

The formative years are the most important in the growth of a child. Today, the need for well-trained professionals who can guide children through their early years has increased. Be it in a school, daycare or community center, the need for workers in the field of early childhood education has grown and remains an important requirement in a child's development.
A career in early childhood development can be a challenging one, especially when dealing with children with difficulties. However, the results can be very rewarding and the employment options are numerous. Early childhood education careers also have scope for diversification. Programs aimed towards training in early childhood education will cover a wide variety of topics, ranging from psychology to nutrition.


Students will learn about the components of early childhood education, like family, play environments and partnerships. They will also learn about interpersonal relationships and the integration of theory and skills. Students will learn how to deal with infants and toddlers, as children at this stage develop the quickest. Learning how to observe and give consistent care to these children will also be taught.


Programs will also teach the importance of health in early childhood. Ensuring the child eats nutritious meals at the stipulated times is very important. Students will also learn about guidance and how to teach young children appropriate behavior. The importance of art and creativity and the need to engage children in these activities is also stressed. Students are also taught how to assess and observe children, in order to identify possible problem areas. They will learn the importance of the role of the family and community in the development of a child. Students can also opt to learn special skills to learn how to work with children with disabilities and special needs.

While at CIVC was doing my nanny course I worked part time as a librarian, this on campus job helped me a lot to complete my course. Up the CIVC flag now I am living happily in Australia with my spouse.
